HANDLETTERING

Whether it be traditional ink-dipped calligraphy, modern (fake) calligraphy, watercolor or digital lettering I thoroughly enjoy it and find it incredibly therapeutic!  I often times am asked to make cards, signs or announcements for others but one of my favorite things to do is letter scripture or hymns.

I'm a kinetic learner and physically writing, seeing, or doing helps me to retain that information better than I would if I learned otherwise.  This method also helps me in memorization and truly helps me to allow God to write it on my heart as He said to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 31:33, "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days...I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

I often letter in my sketchbook, snap a photo, then digitize the words in Adobe Illustrator. This process helps me to make invitations, prints and other things that may need to be mass produced by a commercial printer.
